Information from Future Earth Global Hub Japan for the support for the new letter
June 16, 2022
The following information was received from the Future Earth Global Hub Japan.
In 1972, 2,200 environmental scientists made urgent recommendations on the current state of the environment at the United Nations Summit on the Human Environment in Stockholm. In 2022, 50 years after the UN Summit, the International Council for Science, Future Earth, and the Stockholm Environment Institute convened a group of expert writers from natural scientists, social scientists, and humanities scientists in advance of the Stockholm+50 Conference (June 2-3, 2022) to modernize and extend this historic call. The campaign was featured in Nature magazine and calls for support for the new letter.
Since its announcement at the Stockholm +50 meeting, this new letter has already garnered more than 500 supporters, and we would like to invite the Japanese Future Earth community to join us in supporting this letter. We hope that you will share this letter with your networks and encourage them to endorse it as well.
