Announcement from Future Earth Global Hub Japan for meetings

The following information was received from the Future Earth Global Hub Japan.
We are pleased to announce the following two meetings scheduled for the promotion of the SDGs and the revision of the Japanese government’s SDG implementation guidelines.
We hope that you will join us as we seek to reflect your voices in the revision of the SDGs implementation guidelines in 2023.
AEON Environmental Foundation “Future Earth” Dialogue Meeting – Drawing up a Japanese version of the SDGs Goal 12 “Responsible Consumption and production”-

Abstract:”Considering Japan’s SDG Targets and Indicators to Measure Progress.”
The 169 targets of the SDGs are supposed to be set by the governments of each country with the current situation of each country in mind. However, in Japan, there has been no full-fledged discussion on the establishment of targets, which are specific targets to be achieved. At a workshop held by the younger generation at the end of last month, we “tentatively drew” a Japanese version of the target for Goal 12 while keeping Goals 13, 14, and 15 in mind. Based on the draft targets,” we will invite participants to share their opinions on the kind of society they would like to see in 2030, and the actions they and society should take (or want to take) to achieve the targets (transformation). We will also have an online real-time opinion poll. We would then like to reflect the discussions here in the following meetings.

Abstract: Japan’s SDG implementation guidelines were decided in 2016 and are expected to be revised for the second time in 2023. In this process, the private sector members of the “Roundtable on SDGs Promotion” plan to compile a proposal for Japan’s goals and targets toward the realization of the SDGs. In order to make this proposal reflect the opinions of a wide range of stakeholders, we will hold the “Partnership Meeting on SDGs Implementation Guidelines 2022 (1st meeting)”. The second meeting will be held in the fall of this year. In addition, by coordinating with related meetings to be held in various locations between the first and second meetings, we aim to implement the discussions widely throughout Japan and make the recommendations substantive. The AEON Environmental Foundation “Future Earth” meeting mentioned above will also be conducted on an ongoing basis and linked to this partnership meeting.
At the July 27 meeting, participants will be divided into five subcommittees (groups) [People, Prosperity, Planet, Peace, and Partnership] to participate in the discussions. When registering, please select your first and second choices.
