International conference “Ecosystem Studies of the Subarctic and Arctic Seas (ESSAS) Open Science Meeting 2025” was held

With the co-hosting of the Hokkaido University FE Consortium member, The Open Science Meeting of “Ecosystem Studies of the Subarctic and Arctic Seas (ESSAS)”, which is the regional programme of the Integrated Marine Biosphere Research (IMBeR), one of the Global Research Networks of Future Earth, was held from June 24 to 26, 2025 at the National Institute of Polar Research (Tokyo).

ESSAS is an international program aimed at advancing research on the natural environment and ecosystems of subarctic and Arctic seas. This meeting was also supported by the North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES), an international government agency, and participants came from countries and regions including Iceland, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, Greenland, China, Germany, Japan, Norway, the United States, Poland, and Russia.
